Play VOB on Plex Media Server

Plex Media Server does not play VOB

Plex Media Server recongnizes VOB folder and then content but it just will not play them. Can you make a support for VOB to be played? My DVD’s that I archive I would like to be able to play them as they are OG’s.

Why Plex not handle VOB files?

Reason 1:

According to the support page, I’ve known that it isn’t supported: Plex does not support the use of ISO, IMG, Video_TS or other “disk image” formats. If you wish to use those with Plex, it’s recommended that you convert them to a compatible format.

Reason 2:

VOB is a container format in DVD-Video media, almost all commercially produced DVD-Video titles use some restrictions or copy protection method, which also affects VOB files.

From above information, we can see that it is impossible to import unencrypted VOB files to Plex, not to say VOB files encrypted with restrictions and copy protection. To fix the Plex VOB playback problems, you will need a specific application to get the job completed.
