Edit my lost Contacts before transfer them back to iPhone 4

I had two iphone 4 and was selling one of them. My friend went into Contacts and erased all the Contacts of the wrong phone. It is said that when you lost your data in your iPhone, do not did any extra operation on your iPhone the newly created data will cover your previous data. So I did not do anything on your iPhone.
